Background introduction
Basement sidewalls are continuously exposed to lateral groundwater pressure, soil moisture, and seasonal ground movement. Without an effective waterproofing system, water can penetrate through concrete pores, construction joints, tie rod holes, and shrinkage cracks, leading to dampness, leakage, mould growth, and structural deterioration.
To ensure long-term protection, basement sidewalls should be waterproofed on the positive (external) side before backfilling. A composite waterproofing system combining CQ112 Non-Curable Rubber Asphalt Waterproof Coating with PCM Reaction Self-Adhesive Rubberized Bitumen Waterproof Membrane provides a durable waterproof barrier with excellent adhesion, self-healing properties, and resistance to water migration.
Program description
2. Clean and prepare the substrate to ensure it is smooth, sound, and free from dust, oil, loose particles, and standing water.
3. Apply CQ112 Non-Curable Rubber Asphalt Waterproof Coating evenly over the prepared substrate.
4. Install PCM Reaction Self-Adhesive Rubberized Bitumen Waterproof Membrane onto the CQ112 coating using the roll-paste method, ensuring full adhesion.
5. Seal all membrane overlaps, joints, corners, construction joints, and pipe penetrations according to specification.
6. Install a protection board or drainage board to protect the waterproofing system.
7. Backfill with suitable material only after the waterproofing system has been inspected and accepted.
Matters needing attention
● Repair all cracks, honeycombs, tie rod holes, and surface defects before waterproofing installation.
● Reinforce internal corners, external corners, construction joints, and pipe penetrations with appropriate detailing materials.
● Apply CQ112 evenly to achieve continuous coverage before installing the PCM Self-Adhesive Waterproof Membrane.
● Ensure all membrane overlaps are fully bonded and sealed to prevent water migration.
● Install the protection board or drainage board immediately after membrane installation to prevent damage during backfilling.
● Do not backfill until the waterproofing system has been fully inspected and approved.
● Avoid installation during rainfall or when the substrate does not meet the required installation conditions.
